Analyst – Acoustics, Sonar, Physics (All Levels)

Ultra Maritime is seeking a motivated Analyst to help advance our cutting‑edge maritime and underwater warfare capabilities. The role involves analysis of sonar systems, modelling, and support of sea trials in a continuous improvement environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in‑depth analysis of sonar systems using established methodologies.
  • Develop performance models and analyses collaboratively with design teams, aligning with customer specifications.
  • Model performance across realistic underwater acoustic conditions and evaluate sonar performance against customer requirements.
  • Use modelling and simulation to guide product decisions and refine concepts of operation, quantifying the impact of sonar system design decisions on performance.
  • Assist in the execution of sea trials, analysing trial data against system performance requirements.
  • Produce comprehensive reports on trial data analysis, drawing clear conclusions about trial success and system performance.
  • Regularly report progress to project and product development teams.
  • Provide expertise during design reviews and customer presentations.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar STEM field (higher degree preferred).
  • Experience in sonar or related domain, including signal processing, detection, classification, localisation, machine learning/AI, performance prediction, trials data analysis, finite element analysis, transducer design.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex topics clearly to expert and non‑expert audiences.
  • Proficiency with mathematical and scientific modelling tools (Python, MATLAB).
  • Proven ability to set and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Existing or attainable security clearance (SC).
