About

The Role

As a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you’ll value kindness above all, supporting residents in our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Your role is full‑time, 30 hours per week, and focuses on delivering high‑quality care through food.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook
  • Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces
  • Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.)
  • Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored
  • Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment
  • Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless after the lunch rush
Qualifications
  • Some kitchen experience
  • NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation, or willingness to work toward it
  • Strong organisational skills and keen eye for detail
  • Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately
  • Patience, respect, and genuine kindness when interacting with Residents and co‑workers
  • Commitment to safeguarding, recognising signs of abuse or neglect, and reporting concerns
