Personal Tax Assistant / Semi Senior
TPF Recruitment, Kent's leading accountancy practice recruitment agency, is recruiting for a fantastic firm of chartered accountants based in Canterbury who are looking for a Personal Tax Assistant / Semi Senior to join their team. This will be a personal tax focused position, where you will support the Tax Manager with all compliance tax matters and have the opportunity to support on advisory work too!

- Tax computations for a portfolio of private clients (including individuals, sole traders, partnerships and trusts)
- Supporting the Managers and Partners with advisory work across CGT, IHT, Trusts, Estates etc.
- Liaising with other offices/departments as required
- Dealing with HMRC as required by email, letter and telephone
- Liaising with clients as and when required
- Preparing form P11
Ds - Ensuring clients are advised of impending deadlines
- Assisting junior members of staff as required
- AAT or ATT/ ACA/ ACCA part qualified, or qualified by experience with at least 1‑3 years experience working within an accountancy practice environment or personal tax position.
- Experience of preparing tax returns for Manager or Partner review and experience of relevant tax computation software.
- £23,000 - £30,000 dependent on experience and background, negotiable.

Personal Tax Assistant ManagerWe are looking to appoint a Personal Tax Assistant Manager for a highly regarded practice in Kent. This role offers a mixed compliance and advisory portfolio.
As a Personal Tax Assistant Manager, you will:- Take ownership of a varied portfolio of personal tax clients.
- Oversee and deliver annual self-assessment tax compliance work, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Support the delivery of a range of tax advisory projects, including CGT, IHT, Trust and estate planning, Remuneration planning and share schemes.
- Liaise directly with clients, building long‑term relationships and becoming a trusted advisor.
- Support junior team members and play a role in the development and review of their work.
- CTA and/or ATT/ACA/ACCA qualified, with a strong personal tax career within an accountancy practice or specialist tax firm.
- Experience in a mix of Top Tier, Top Ten or regional independent firm background, focused on personal tax compliance and/or tax planning.
- Highly experienced at Senior or Assistant Manager level.
- £45,000 - £55,000 dependent on experience and background, negotiable.
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
- Hybrid working, 3 days from home.

Personal Tax Semi‑SeniorWe are seeking a motivated Personal Tax Semi‑Senior to support the firm’s personal tax clients and develop your expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare personal tax returns for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Assist with the review of junior staff’s work, providing guidance and mentorship where necessary.
- Manage your own portfolio of clients, ensuring deadlines are met and high‑quality service is delivered.
- Liaise with clients and HMRC to resolve queries and ensure compliance.
- Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for tax savings.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and share knowledge with the team.
- Experience working within a personal tax role in an accountancy practice.
- Ideally studying towards, or holding, ATT qualifications (study support can be provided).
- Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance.
- Excellent communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
- Proactive approach to problem‑solving and keen eye for detail.
