A growing client who has recently been acquired is continuing its growth across the North West, and we’re looking for an experienced Associate Civil Engineer to join their Wigan office. This is a senior role with real influence, ideal for someone who wants to lead projects, support business development, and help shape the direction of a forward‑thinking engineering consultancy.
AboutAs an Associate Engineer, you’ll act as a technical and managerial lead across a diverse portfolio of projects. You’ll oversee design delivery, manage client relationships, and support the development of the wider engineering team. This role offers a blend of hands‑on engineering, project leadership, and strategic input.
The role- Leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept to completion
- Providing high‑level technical guidance and reviewing designs, reports, and calculations
- Managing client relationships and contributing to business development activities
- Overseeing project programmes, budgets, and resource planning
- Mentoring and developing junior and mid‑level engineers
- Ensuring compliance with UK standards, regulations, and best practice
- Representing at meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagements
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, or related discipline)
- Significant consultancy experience, ideally in a senior or associate‑level role
- Strong technical background with the ability to lead complex projects
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills
- Chartered status (CEng/MIStruct
E/MICE) or equivalent - A proactive, commercially aware mindset
