Casual Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the provision of strength and conditioning and sport science support at Academy sessions.
  • Deliver strength and conditioning sessions that reflect a scientific underpinning with reference to long‑term athletic development, periodisation, adaptation, peaking, tapering, injury and rehabilitation.
  • Support the delivery of a football‑specific per iodised strength and conditioning programme on and off the field, which is integrated into the annual football development plan for all academy players.
  • Implement the long‑term athletic development programme throughout schoolboy academy age groups to ensure players have the physical capabilities to cope with elite professional football and facilitate a seamless transition throughout the professional development phase into the first team environment.
  • Assist the medical team and strength and conditioning staff to carry out movement screening and effective corrective and performance‑enhancing programmes.
  • Support the medical team to develop player rehab, pre‑hab programmes and implement return to play strategies.
  • Implement warm‑ups and recovery strategies to prepare players for game and session performance.
  • Monitor the training load and ensure this is integrated into training periodisation.
  • Assist the talent identification process and contribute to measures of maturity and growth.
  • Identify strengths and areas for development in each player through objective and subjective measures, and use this to develop each individual.
  • Coordinate and deliver the testing procedures throughout the academy.
  • Provide data for components required within the EPPP and Academy audit.
  • Provide continual education to players, parents/guardians on optimal and appropriate nutrition for performance through planned and structured seminars and delivery of in‑service training of coaches and support staff, in liaison with Player Care Manager and Sports Science and medical team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A qualification at degree level in physiotherapy
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science and or Strength and Conditioning
