This is a great opportunity to join the board of Trustees of a small, young, and impactful local charity that provides free short breaks for families affected by cancer.

Whether you’re an experienced Trustee or new to the role, we welcome people from all backgrounds, especially those with lived experience of cancer or from under‑represented communities.

We are seeking Trustees with spare time, energy, and enthusiasm, and possibly with an interest in or experience of one or more of the following areas:

• Cancer as a patient or supporter, or a respite care user
• Legal – Providing legal insight and governance support
• Fundraising & Community Engagement – Helping to develop income streams and run events
• Marketing & Communications – Developing communication strategies, media relations, and outreach
• Data & Digital – Supporting our website, email marketing, content and social media presence
• Business management experience

Matt’s Respite Retreats is a small Wincanton‑based charity that provides free short breaks for people and their families affected by cancer. The break is for the whole family – creating space to relax, reconnect, and make memories during life’s most difficult times.

We are seeking up to three new trustees to join our friendly board to help us guide the charity through its next stage of growth. Our board currently consists of three trustees (chair, treasurer and secretary) who bring a mix of lived experience, professional backgrounds and a passion for helping others living with cancer. As a small organisation, our trustees are hands‑on as well as strategic – shaping direction, supporting governance or helping in key areas such as communications, partnerships and planning.

As a trustee, you’ll play an active role in board discussions and decision‑making, support local fundraising events and fill skill gaps that we are lacking in.
