Senior Software Engineer – Thales
Location:
Templecombe, United Kingdom
The role is part of Thales' Software Solutions Engineering division, focusing on designing, developing, and testing secure software solutions across multiple domains such as Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space.
Responsibilities- Work within a Scrum team with other software developers, in Agile mode.
- Contribute to requirement definition and software design, including architectural aspects of projects.
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
- Write well‑designed, documented and testable code.
- Develop, test and execute full software development life cycle.
- Design, implement and test features with scalability, performance, deployment/operation and end‑user experience in mind.
- Make estimations and provide inputs for planning with the team.
- Collaborate with other Software Solutions Engineers to share knowledge and improve overall product/solution.
- Recent graduate with a Master’s degree from an Engineering school and approximately 2 years of professional, internship, academic or personal project experience.
- Resourceful, innovative, solution‑oriented and a good team player, while also comfortable working independently and seeking empowerment.
- Adaptable and responsive to change.
- Knowledge of designing, developing and testing secure software solutions and/or components.
- Proficiency in Full Stack or pure back/pure front programming languages and frameworks (e.g. JAVA, C, C++, Python, or any other).
- Familiar with compilation/code building/continuous integration.
- Knowledge of IS Computing Platforms, Operating Systems and Hypervisors.
- Familiarity with Agile principles.
- Nice to have: specific domain / product / project knowledge (to be filled in by Engineering Manager or Talent Acquisition).
This role requires SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; if not, the successful applicant must undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance. For full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
