Job Description:

The Director of Manufacturing is a key member of the executive team responsible for overseeing and optimizing the production processes within the company. The Director of Manufacturing will develop and implement manufacturing strategies, manage various departments, and ensure efficiency, quality, and alignment with business objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in manufacturing management, production planning, and business

leadership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the entire manufacturing process to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage day-to-day business of the operations department while balancing responsibilities to coordinate with various business functions such as project management, purchasing, customer and vendor relations, and risk management.
  • Manage production planning and scheduling to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
  • Optimize production schedules to maximize resource utilization and minimize downtime.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between departments, ensuring alignment and collaboration to achieve common goals.
  • Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections to identify and address quality issues.
  • Raise and track issues and conflicts, remove barriers, resolve issues involving stakeholders and escalate to appropriate level when required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve productivity, and lower costs.
  • Develop operational budgets and forecasts, monitor expenses, and make recommendations for cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and budgets, to ensure optimal utilization.
  • Develop and implement staffing plans to meet production needs.
  • Leverage technology to enhance manufacturing operations and drive innovation.
  • Implement advanced manufacturing technologies and automation tools.
  • Work with sales teams to help make sure the production team meets customers’ needs.
  • Develop long-term planning strategies and project status reporting
  • Oversee and work with direct reports to attain weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Assess project requirements and work with teams and stakeholders to develop specific project plans to meet requirements and budget.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with external vendors.
  • Support production training programs, reinforcing technical and operational needs for each department to ensure consistency and high-quality standards.
  • Stay up to date on industry regulations, trends, and technology.
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions within the company are being properly executed in accordance with regulatory-based best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CMfgE, Lean Six Sigma, or CPIM are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Ability to operate in a custom /project-based manufacturing environment where planning is dynamic requiring ongoing solutions with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to effectively manage large number of personnel, tasks, & problems simultaneously with a professional attitude
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, with ability to drive change.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex manufacturing information clearly.
