OutreachWorker - Parenting & Youth (Casual)
This post will be based in our Families Together team which is an ‘invest to save’ project meaning success will be based upon the positive outcomes for the children and young people plus the monies saved by the children and young people staying within or returning to the family as opposed to requiring costly foster or residential placements.
The Families Together Team is part of the Family Hub Service which brings together a range of services that focuses provision on targeted support to our most vulnerable children, young people and families.
Basic starting hourly rate £13.03 plus a top up paid annual leave contribution.

As an Outreach Worker you will be providing 1-to-1 support to children, young people and families in their own homes and in the community outside of business hours in evenings and weekends.
These clients could be experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, need support around life skills or at risk of going into care proceedings. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have flexible hours and would like to work in a challenging yet rewarding role.
The key responsibilities include- Liaise with the allocated Families Together Practitioner and Team Leader to agree a tailored outreach support package for each matched referral
- Providing respite to carers by undertaking activities with young people
- Providing help in managing behaviour at home in line with agreed support plan
- Supporting parents in implementing strategies around particularly challenging times e.g. bed time
- Ability to respond flexibly and at short‑notice to meet the demands of the service and the needs of the family

About youWe are looking for someone who has a passion for supporting children and young people and can approach challenging situations with creativity and empathy. You will have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills that are open, honest, persuasive and pragmatic, including excellent negotiation and influencing skills. You will be confident to work alone in the community, maintaining strong personal boundaries and managing and reporting safeguarding incidents.
Asan Outreach Worker you will be
- Educated to GCSE level with preference for a relevant professional qualification in working with children or young people, parenting, youth work or supported housing
- Experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviour and experience managing & reporting safeguarding incidents
- Experience of offering support to parents or doing parenting work
- Ability to work as part of an effective, flexible and supportive team and willing to work unsociable hours including evenings and weekends
- Must hold a driving licence and have use of a vehicle to travel effectively to undertake work, including business insurance
