Reporting to the Senior District Accounting Assistant, the Accounting Assistant will work closely with the district to ensure information is processed accurately and in a timely manner.

The Accounting Assistant position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Company Policies and Procedures while working with a diverse group of stakeholders.

This position is based in the Winnipeg Finance Office.

What you will be working on

  • Review CDN subcontractor documents, including subcontracts, invoices and change orders.

  • Complete data entry of USD subcontracts, including subcontracts, invoices and change orders.

  • Data input of subcontractor compliances.

  • Processes weekly and monthly payments.

  • Reconcile subcontractor holdback invoices and process for payment.

  • Prepare month-end working papers and additional ad hoc reports.

  • Import journal entries (as required).

  • File project related documents in company repository.

  • Maintain and organize confidential documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures are adhered to.

  • Execute additional duties and requests as assigned.

  • What We Are Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration or related disciplines

  • 2+ years’ related accounting and finance experience, preferably in a construction environment

  • Knowledge of Viewpoint, OnBase and InEight is an asset

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Teams, Excel)

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation

  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals

  • Able to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them

  • Strong organization, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
