Main job duties include diagnosing and treating diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, which job duties encompass 70% of the position. The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank) and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 30% of the position.
The successful candidate will join an established and cohesive group of four other subspecialty-trained academic hip and knee arthroplasty surgeons. They will be expected to participate in an approximate 1-in-12 general orthopaedic call schedule as well as a 1-in-7 hip and knee arthroplasty-specific call schedule. Elective clinic and operating time will be provided.
The CJRG is a high-volume arthroplasty group targeted to perform 3000 joint replacements annually. The majority of the hip and knee revision cases for the province of Manitoba and adjacent regions (approximately 1.6 million people) are performed by the group.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Surgery. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. They must have completed at least one year of fellowship training in hip and knee arthroplasty and must also be comfortable with community-level musculoskeletal trauma management.
Compensation:
Compensation is derived from a blending of fee-for-service income and a Minimum Income Guaranteed. Specialty Physicians may be eligible for a recruitment incentive.
