POSITION GOAL:
Support all manufacturing engineering activities within assigned manufacturing cell(s), including implementing lean manufacturing initiatives, ECOs, inventory management, contract reviews, standard work instructions, standards evaluation, and capital and facility upgrades.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide manufacturing engineering support within assigned cells.
- Work effectively as a team member to meet operational metrics and pursue remedial actions.
- Maintain updates on engineering tasks in the cell log.
- Represent engineering in daily and weekly meetings.
- Design or specify equipment, tooling, and racking to support manufacturing.
- Review ECOs and support production implementation.
- Assign default locators to parts in assigned cells.
- Create and train personnel on standard work instructions and hot sheets.
- Maintain layouts and maps related to plant and cell operations.
- Specify and facilitate capital and equipment upgrades or modifications.
- Implement lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, value stream mapping, and setup reduction.
- Foster continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Lead or participate in SWAT teams to resolve issues.
- Conduct process observations to ensure fair and consistent time standards.
- Maintain resource plans for production activities.
- Validate and update routings; submit routing change requests.
- Conduct contract reviews to ensure production readiness.
- Participate in MRB meetings for non-conforming materials.
- Initiate ECRs as needed.
- Support process planning and production engineering.
- Participate in certifications and audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a related engineering discipline.
- Lean certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Effective team collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with computers and measuring instruments.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Uni Graphics; knowledge of Unigraphics and Oracle is a plus.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office.
- Less than 10% travel required.
- Physical ability to walk, bend, climb, sit, and stand for extended periods.
