Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Technologist for our client, a leading multidisciplinary consulting firm with a strong presence across Canada.
The OpportunityOur client is currently looking for a self-motivated Senior Electrical Technologist to join their Winnipeg office. This role is integral to the delivery of electrical engineering projects across a wide range of building types, including institutional, educational, healthcare, commercial, recreational, multi-family residential, and industrial facilities.
The successful candidate will be heavily involved in electrical design and documentation, while also contributing to project coordination, quality assurance, and overall project delivery. This position offers the opportunity to work on technically diverse projects alongside experienced professionals, with exposure to collaboration across offices nationwide.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare electrical designs for building systems such as lighting, power distribution, life safety, standby power, fire alarm, security, and communication systems
Develop construction documentation for healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and institutional projects in collaboration with production staff and junior designers
Coordinate with other consulting disciplines to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of drawings
Review architectural, interior, and structural drawings for coordination and constructability
Support quality assurance processes and ensure timely delivery of project documentation
Respond to contractor inquiries and provide technical clarification during construction
Provide technical and administrative support throughout all project phases
Assist with proposal development, resource planning, and internal technical reviews
Support the development and maintenance of client relationships
Diploma in Engineering Technology from a recognized college
10+ years of experience designing electrical systems for buildings
Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and National Building Codes of Canada
Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD for construction documentation
Experience with bidding and tendering processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point
Experience working directly with clients and project stakeholders
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment
Experience leading small teams and contributing to project management activities
Strong ability to visualize and work within a virtual construction environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
Strong time management and organizational skills
