Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, this role works closely with members of the Engineering team to design and develop customized bulk material handling solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing belt conveyor systems that meet project requirements through accurate capacity and load calculations, detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Design bulk material handling equipment with a primary focus on belt conveyors, as well as screw conveyors, drag conveyors, bucket elevators, valves, and gates
- Provide engineering support for research and development of new products
- Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Estimating teams to ensure design specifications are accurately interpreted
- Support the development and monitoring of project schedules and budgets
- Participate in all stages of product development and design using Solid Works
- Assist in determining costs and material quantities based on project requirements
- Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), technical reports, and documentation
- Ensure quality control and accuracy of engineering drawings and 3D models
- Apply engineering best practices and communicate effectively with peers
- Develop strong product knowledge and provide technical expertise to internal teams
- Adhere to organizational policies, provincial regulations, and safety standards
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in material handling and manufacturing
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered and in good standing with a provincial engineering association
- 3–5 years of experience designing belt conveyor systems
- Working knowledge of CEMA and CSA standards
- Experience with material handling software tools (e.g. Belt Analyst)
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including welding, fabrication, and power transmission design
- Advanced proficiency with Solid Works
- Ability to create, review, and interpret technical documentation and customer specifications
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts
- Proven ability to collaborate across multiple departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
- Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and the United States; valid passport and driver’s license required
- Ability to attend industrial sites and comply with all safety regulations
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a team-based environment
