Description of Duties:
Become a board member for Evermore Gather Grow Lead Inc. and gain opportunities to develop key skills in leadership, governance, strategic planning, and financial oversight, all while shaping the organization's mission and growth. ABOUT EVERMORE:
Evermore Gather Grow Lead Inc. is nonprofit based in the west central area of Winnipeg comprised of the three inner-city neighbourhoods of Spence, St. Matthews and Daniel McIntyre. Founded in 1977 Evermore has been a stable and trusted presence in the west central community providing high quality recreational and developmental programming for area children and youth between the ages of 6 and 17.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Board of Directors for Evermore Gather Grow Lead Inc. is comprised of community members and is collectively accountable to the organization along with community, funders, and stakeholders. The Board is accountable for Evermore's performance relating to its mission and objectives, and for the effective stewardship of finances, capital, and human resources.
TIME COMMITMENT/TERM OF OFFICE:
Members of Evermore's Board of Directors attend ten regular meetings per year (September to June), each lasting approximately two hours, and our Annual General Meeting held in May. Positions come with a two-year commitment and possible re-election after the first term. Support at special events and fundraising activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The board directs, controls and inspires the organization through the careful establishment of broad written policies reflecting the board's values and perspectives. To serve in Evermore's best interests, bringing informed decision-making and perspective by:
- Preparing for and participating in monthly Board meetings;
- Listening to the views of others, advocating one's own views, identifying common perspectives, and being open to compromise;
- Supporting governance decisions once they are made;
- Participating in review of the Evermore's Vision and Strategic Governance Plan;
- Willingness to engage in the practice of Policy Governance;
- Ensure appropriate organizational performance through Outcomes, Executive Limitations, Governance Process and Board-Management Relationships;
- Abide by Evermore's Bylaws, Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, Confidentiality, and other policies that may apply to the Board;
- Participate in approving annual budget and monitoring financial performance of Evermore;
- Participate in evaluations of Executive Director;
- Assist with fundraising in support of Evermore.
