Description of Duties

Want to give back to your community? A & O:
Support Services for Older Adults' Connect Program is looking for volunteers to provide social companionship to older adults living in the Winnipeg community through in person visits. A & O currently requires volunteers who enjoy conversation and have strong conversational and interpersonal skills. If you can commit a minimum of one hour a week in the morning, afternoon, or evening, you can make a difference for an older adult living in our community.

Skills Required

• Strong conversational and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to work independently
• Completed criminal Record Search and Adult Abuse Registry check will be required of successful applicants, to be discussed.

Skills Gained / Related Careers

• Communicating with older adults
• Opportunity to practice interpersonal skills
• Opportunity to attend training session on a variety of topics related to aging.

Eligibility & Time Commitment

Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+

Time Commitment:
Daytime, Evening, Weekend

Volunteers are free to complete visits during mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends depending on the schedules of both the volunteer and the older adult.
