"Healing and empowerment through creative endeavor" Studio Central is a project of Artbeat Studio Inc. Programming at Studio Central aims to facilitate the production of art as a means of inspiring personal passion, connecting generations, bridging diverse groups, and serving as a catalyzing symbol of the people as a community. Studio Central is located on the second floor of Portage Place Shopping Centre, primarily serving the Central Park and North Portage area.
Its programming is offered to those aged 18 or older.
Vision:
To enable consumers of mental health services to engage in artistic expression that promotes recovery, empowerment and community. Mission:
To provide studio space, community and opportunity for creative initiative to facilitate mental, spiritual and economic health. The objectives of Studio Central are:
To create opportunity for the alumni of Artbeat Studio's core program to gain career path momentum by participating in the implementation of a comprehensive community-based arts program. To provide residents of Central Park and North Portage area with professional mentorship in art related occupations, a safe space to work on projects, an opportunity to participate in a range of social activities and to deliver an art program that encourages dialogue and development of a cultural fabric comprised of diverse communities.

Volunteer Opportunity
Studio Central is a drop in art studio that hosts daily facilitated art workshops for adults living downtown and in neighboring communities. We offer Volunteer opportunities such as Receptionist, Sanitizer and Creative assistant.
Roles and Responsibilities ReceptionistSigning people in and out of the space, explaining what studio central is to new comers to the space and answering the phone.
SanitizerSweeping / Swiffer mopping the floors, wiping down chairs and tables, taking out garbage and recycling when needed and cleaning brushes and palettes.
Creative AssistantThis role you can do your own art, while helping others if they need certain supplies or guidance on what to do for art, with some minor cleaning if people leave without cleaning up their table.
Skills Required- Reception - Comfortable with answering the phone and welcoming people into our space.
- Sanitization - Ability to sweep, mop and clean paint palettes. Basic understanding of cleaning supplies.
- Creative Assistant - personable and willing to help others, a basic understanding of art supplies and good communication skills.

Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment:
Daytime. Our Volunteer times are 2 hours each, Starting with 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri.
