- Fulfills research requirements for a funded grant to study mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in bacteria.

- conducts experiments to understand molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in Gram-negative bacteria. This will involve design and execution of experiments. Data analysis for genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics experiments will also be part of the responsibility.

- Manuscript writing.

- Routine maintenance of lab equipment, plate readers, thermocycler, qPCR, freezers etc - Point of contact to coordinate any required maintenance with the company that provided the machine and scheduling anything required.

- Organizes and manages the phenotypic and genotypic data collecting.

- Maintains a user schedule, handles administrative privileges and manages data for common equipment in the lab.

- General lab managerial type tasks such as tracking lab supplies, ordering reagents, and other required  :

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:

- Master's of Science required.

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience with writing manuscripts required.

- Experience with Next Gen sequencing, PCR, RT-PCR, Mutagenesis, CDNA cloning, DNA/RNA purification processes are essential.

- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to train laboratory personnel including undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff.

- Ability to work independently within strict timelines.

- Ability to deliver research updates to the stakeholders.

- Culturing of microbial species, DNA extractions, PCR reactions is required.

- Experience using spreadsheets and word processing programs is required.

- Must have strong organizational skills and an attention to detail.

- Ability to follow detailed protocols, as well as an openness to innovation and a willingness to suggest improvements to methods, is required.

- Ability to recognize when methods need to be adjusted or performance needs to improve is required.

- Must be a team player who can work well with others in a laboratory setting.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
