Job ProfileUnder the general supervision of an Operations Supervisor, the Bus Operator provides safe, courteous, and on‑time transit service. Duties include adhering to laws and policies, interacting friendly with passengers, following routes and schedules, diffusing conflict, monitoring fare payment, applying assault‑avoidance techniques, and maintaining a valid driver’s license.
The position is attentive to safety concerns affecting the community.

Responsibilities- Operate transit buses safely.
- Provide courteous, professional service to passengers.
- Inform passengers of fare and monitor fare payment.
- Report and correspond with supervisory personnel as required.
- Participate in professional training and development.
- Grade 10 or equivalent training and experience.
- Minimum 2 years driving experience satisfactory to employer.
- Driving experience in snow and ice is an asset.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Composure, patience, and conflict management skills.
- Effective professional communication skills.
- Problem‑solving communication skills.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Ability to make quick decisions.
- Ability to read city maps.
- Knowledge of Winnipeg streets and bus routes is an asset.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- The successful applicant must undergo a police information check including vulnerable sector.
- Must hold a full, valid Manitoba Class 5 (5F) driver’s license with a minimum safety rating of
-4 or higher. - Must obtain and maintain a Class 2 driver’s license with Airbrake Endorsement (Beginners 2A/I).
- Must meet physical demands: extended sitting, reaching, twisting, etc.
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts: days, evenings, weekends, holidays, split shifts.
- Must work in extreme weather conditions.
- Must meet all training standards.
