Head of Finance (Part-Time, Interim - 12 Months)

A leading Oxfordshire-based charity, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children across the UK, is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join on an initial 12‑month contract during an important period of change and growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance leader who wants to make a tangible difference while enjoying the flexibility of a part‑time, hybrid role. You will report directly to the CEO, working closely with the leadership team, and oversee a small but busy finance function – balancing hands‑on financial management with strategic oversight.
What you’ll be doing :- Lead the preparation and sign‑off of management accounts
- Deliver insightful financial reporting to the Board, including presenting at monthly Board meetings
- Oversee KPI reporting, year‑end accounts and the external audit process
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and regular re‑forecasting cycles
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations (Charity Commission, SORP, HMRC, pensions)
- Work with the CEO to shape and implement financial strategy
- Support and mentor the Finance Manager, fostering their professional development
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) – though QBE with significant experience will be considered
- Experience with in the charity, trust, or funding sector (essential for navigating SORP and compliance requirements)
- Strong track record of managing finance in a collaborative, remote‑working environment
- A hands‑on leader who can balance detail with strategic thinking
- Be part of a mission‑driven organisation making a genuine impact on children’s health and well‑being
- Enjoy true flexibility – part‑time (2‑3 days per week), hybrid working, with only one day per month in the office
- A role that blends leadership, strategy, and team development with the satisfaction of supporting a cause that matters
