AEROCONTACT is looking for a Senior Systems & Performance Engineer to join our Wolverhampton‑based team and contribute expertise to military and civil actuation projects. The role involves autonomously planning and executing Systems & Performance Engineering work packages as part of an integrated product team.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop technical specifications and solutions for intricate actuation systems, involving requirements capture, architecture development, trade studies, requirements validation, design performance analysis, modeling, verification, and integration. Ensure clear understanding, interpretation, and clarification of customer and stakeholder requirements; establish system architecture and develop interface definitions. Manage requirements and create specifications for internal and external suppliers. Utilize computer modelling and simulation for hydro‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems.
Support product design and development through static and dynamic analysis, including sizing, sensitivity, and robustness analysis, as well as control‑law development. Conduct trade‑off analysis to identify optimised solutions. Produce project deliverables such as Performance Analysis reports, Requirements Management Plans, System Description Documents, Verification Summaries, and Compliance Reports. Generate and track progress on requirements validation, traceability, and verification matrices/summaries. Analyse customer‑requirement compliance, identify and address technical risks, and implement risk mitigation throughout the programme lifecycle.
Contribute to the development of standard work and best practices within the function.
Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace (or similar) industry. Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering activities and the development of computer simulations for complex hydraulic, mechanical, and/or electrical systems. Strong personal integrity, independence, composure under pressure, and logical decision‑making skills. Proficiency in analytical methods, problem‑solving, Systems Thinking, System Life cycles, System Modelling and Analysis, Requirements Definition, and System Architecting. Knowledge of hydro‑mechanical and/or electro‑mechanical systems, including control and monitoring.
Proven experience in system integration, model verification, and intricate failure investigations. Experience with IBM Rational DOORS 9.X for Requirements Management and/or Systems Modelling Language (SysML). Degree in Engineering Science. Excellent oral and written communication skills, cross‑cultural awareness, and a process‑compliant mindset. Familiarity with Math Works MATLAB and Simulink software packages. Experience applying requirements‑management software to projects.
Prior experience in IBM Rational DOORS 9.X and SysML is preferred. Training in daily applications for systems engineering is beneficial.
