POSITION SUMMARY AND CANDIDATE PROFILE
We are looking for a qualified accountant to join our small, friendly team based in Wolverhampton. This is an office-based role with a strong team focus. You will be responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of clients, as well as mentoring and managing team members.

- Liaising with clients to build relationships and ensure the client’s needs and statutory deadlines are delivered smoothly. Providing client advice in an accurate, appropriate and timely manner
- Producing monthly/quarterly management accounts and annual accounts, using the various software packages (Quick Books, Sage, Kash Flow, Xero etc.)
- Producing and submitting VAT returns, Corporation Tax returns and SATR
- Liaising with the team to ensure other client services, for example, payroll and annual returns are completed
- Support in managing the workload of the Wolverhampton office to ensure workload planning is efficient and effective across the team
- Reviewing the work of team members and coaching them where appropriate to ensure client work delivered is accurate and timely
- Acting as a sounding board for team members in a mentoring, coaching and training capacity
- Undertaking meetings with potential new clients to understand their needs and to provide advice and fee proposals
- Signing up new clients and ensuring they are set up and registered in line with company procedures
- Liaising with team members where appropriate to introduce them to the client and establish the work responsibility
- Update and completion of client time
- Ensuring all software is maintained with all reports, documents and client working papers and correspondence
- Working with the Practice Administrator to ensure the smooth running of the business where appropriate
- Ensuring clients are invoiced promptly in accordance with work carried out
- Liaising with the team and outsourced services where required
- Attending team meetings, training courses and technical updates where required
- Actively and positively promoting the Tax Assist Brand at all times
- Attending network events where necessary to promote the business and increase leads / new clients
- Ad hoc tasks as required by the business
Quality of work: accuracy, thoroughness, completeness, can be relied upon to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard and in good time.
Communication: strong skills both verbal and written. Skilled and compassionate listener and reader able to understand and examine inbound enquiries and effectively respond and direct. Able to build trust and rapport by applying tone, style and appropriate language to communications.

Is a positive and effective team player. Treats colleagues with dignity and respect. Communicates issues or problems within the team and with Management as necessary.
Administration:
Sets own goals and checks processing is accurate and timely. Raises issues promptly, follows up on outstanding tasks and ensure complete and accurate records.
- Accounting qualification – ACCA/ACA or equivalent
- Experience of working in an accountancy practice
- Experience in managing a portfolio of clients and managing team members to ensure workload and client deadlines are met, and the standard of delivery remains excellent
- Experienced in accounts preparation, tax, PAYE and VAT etc
- Ability to work to deadlines and demonstrate flexibility
- Ability to manage own workload and work both independently and as part of the team
- Experience of supervising and managing team members and their work
- Confidence in using a range of software packages and taking on board new software tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to process information accurately
- Strong communication skills and professional at all times with clients and colleagues
- Proactive in the role and demonstrates effective follow through to completion of the task
