Transport Manager – Construction / Plant Hire

A rapidly growing construction and plant hire business is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to take full ownership of its expanding fleet and transport operations. This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of plant and equipment across the region.

With a mixed fleet that includes Artics, Hiabs, flatbeds, and vans, you’ll be the driving force behind maintaining high operational standards, supporting continued growth, and ensuring the fleet remains safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

• Oversee day-to-day transport operations across a mixed fleet.
• Ensure full compliance with the company’s O Licence obligations.
• Maintain and develop transport policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Manage vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and defect reporting.
• Lead and support drivers, ensuring high performance and adherence to regulations.
• Plan and optimise transport routes for efficiency and service delivery.
• Support business growth by scaling transport operations in line with demand

The ideal candidate will bring strong industry knowledge and a proactive, safety-first mindset. You will have :

• Proven experience as a Transport Manager within construction, plant hire, or a similar heavy-equipment environment.
• A valid Transport Manager CPC (essential).
• Liaise with internal teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations.
• Strong understanding of transporting plant, machinery, and oversized loads.
• Excellent knowledge of compliance, vehicle maintenance, and O Licence requirements.

• £50,000 – £55,000 basic salary (depending on experience).
