Our Service
Our Children and Young People in Care Service has three dynamic and nurturing teams committed to driving permanency for our children and young people. This Service works alongside our REACH Leaving Care Team to give children the best preparation for adulthood beyond our care. We support children and young people in care long‑term, including kinship and reunification plans, and helping them leave care through adoption and Special Guardianship.
We link to a range of services to help children overcome trauma, loss and separation. We work with Families First Pathfinder services to deliver seamless support for children and families.
Our mission
Working together to provide creative and seamless support to enable safety and opportunity
Our values
• Relationships are respectful and empowering
• Children are at the centre of what we do
• High aspirations and high expectations
Our culture
City of Wolverhampton Council uses restorative practice. Our children’s social care workforce works across services to deliver the best outcomes for children and support each other to achieve our vision. We write to the child and are well supported by our Youth Engagement and Participation Service to co‑produce policies with young people. We ensure all social workers have time to work closely with their young people for high‑quality direct work.
We are supported by our Home finding Team and Fostering Service, who are approachable and find the best and most stable homes. We believe all children have the right to be supported to independence in adulthood, and we have a Supported Accommodation Service and House Project enabling young people to learn to live independently. In Wolverhampton we take a whole‑community approach to care as an excellent parent would.
