Job Overview
We are actively seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Senior Site Agent to play a pivotal leadership role on a flagship, multi-million-pound highways infrastructure scheme. Working on behalf of a leading main contractor, this project is integral to a major development in the Suffolk area.
As the Senior Site Agent, you will assume full responsibility for the safe, timely, and quality-driven delivery of a significant section of works, reporting directly to the Project Manager. Your expertise in major civil engineering and highways construction is essential for effective mobilisation, day-to-day site management, and successful coordination of the works teams. This is an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated Senior Site Agent to deliver a high-profile national project.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful Senior Site Agent will be accountable for :
- Safety & Compliance : Establishing and maintaining an exceptional safety culture. Ensuring strict adherence to CDM 2015 regulations and leading regular H&S checks and quality audits.
- Operational Leadership :
Direct management of site operations for a key section of the works, efficiently supervising the site team, subcontractors, and supply chain partners. - Programme Delivery : Planning, monitoring, and aggressively driving the progress of assigned project packages to meet all critical milestones and deadlines.
- Commercial Control : Working closely with the commercial team to manage project costs for multiple work packages, accurately capturing and controlling changes in scope (commercial, operational, and design).
- Technical Authority : Managing and implementing all temporary works requirements within your section. Ensuring the site team and supply chain are working strictly to the latest design information and specifications.
- Stakeholder Management :
Representing the main contractor professionally in external client and stakeholder meetings and proactively implementing value engineering solutions. - Reporting : Providing detailed progress and performance reports, and contributing vital input to cost forecasts and valuations.
- Team Development : Leading, managing, and mentoring the site teams to maintain high levels of competence and quality control.
- Extensive, proven experience managing large, complex packages of work, specifically within major civil engineering and highways infrastructure projects (e.g., major road construction, earthworks, heavy civils).
- A strong, demonstrable commitment to safety, coupled with in-depth knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
- Relevant technical qualification : HNC or higher in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Mandatory certifications : SMSTS and CSCS.
- Exceptional communication skills for effective interface with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and designers.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen, advanced problem-solving skills, and proven leadership abilities.
- Highly organised approach, capable of effectively prioritising and delegating multiple tasks.
