About the Opportunity
Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council are seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Surveyor to join their Property Services Team. You will play a key role in ensuring a diverse property portfolio is safe, compliant, and well-maintained - covering operational service buildings, commercial units, leisure facilities, industrial sites, and heritage assets.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Surveyor who thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment and enjoys leading on technical, project-based, and maintenance-focused work across multiple building types.
Key Responsibilities
β Manage reactive, cyclical, and planned maintenance across council properties
β Lead refurbishment and improvement projects (including commercial & industrial premises)
β Conduct building condition surveys and produce high-quality technical reports
β Provide expert professional advice to support strategic asset management
β Prepare Schedule of Condition and dilapidation reports
β Set up contracts, produce JCT documents, and manage contractor performance
β Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, health & safety standards, and council policies
β Work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and internal teams
β Use AutoCAD to produce or amend DWG drawings
About You
You will be a strong match for this role if you have:
πΉ Minimum 5 years' experience in Building Surveying (public sector desirable)
πΉ Experience working with a varied portfolio - commercial, industrial, leisure, and heritage buildings
πΉ Strong technical knowledge in maintenance, construction, and refurbishment
πΉ Proficiency with AutoCAD and DWG drawings
πΉ Excellent project and contract management skills
πΉ Ability to produce detailed reports and professional documentation
πΉ A proactive, solution-focused approach with strong communication skills
πΉ Relevant qualification in Building Surveying or related field
