Role Overview: As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial and project delivery teams in the effective financial and contractual management of civil engineering works across the Severn Trent Water programme. This role provides hands‑on experience within a dynamic and fast‑moving environment, offering a clear pathway for career development into more senior commercial roles.

• Assist in the preparation, submission, and management of monthly applications for payment and supporting documentation
• Support the preparation and agreement of subcontract orders, variations, and final accounts
• Undertake measurement of works, site visits, and maintaining accurate records
• Assist with cost forecasting, budget monitoring, and financial reporting
• Support the commercial team in managing risk, change control, and contract administration under NEC contracts
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure commercial alignment
• Contribute to procurement activities, including tender evaluations and comparisons
• Maintain compliance with company procedures, health & safety requirements, and client standards
• Provide general commercial support to ensure successful delivery of project objectives

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (or working towards one)
• 1–3 years’ experience in a commercial/quantity surveying role within construction or civil engineering (water/utilities experience beneficial but not essential)
• Understanding of NEC contracts
• Ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearance is essential
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities with confidence working across multi‑discipline teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with commercial systems is an advantage
• A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach to work
• Full UK driving licence (site travel required)
