A specialist contractor delivering complex structural and engineering projects is looking for an experienced Design Coordinator to support its expanding technical and project teams. This role suits someone who enjoys working at the intersection of design, engineering, and project delivery—ensuring information flows smoothly, risks are managed, and designs are fully coordinated.
The Role
As Design Coordinator, you’ll act as a key link between internal design staff, external consultants, and project delivery teams. You will support the management of design information, review drawings and specifications, and help ensure coordinated, compliant solutions are delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate design information across internal teams, consultants, and the supply chain.
* Review drawings, models, and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
* Assist with design risk registers, technical reviews, and buildability assessments.
* Support the Design Manager and Project Manager in design meetings, workshops, and issue resolution.
* Track design deliverables, manage document flow, and ensure timely submissions.
* Liaise with procurement and engineering teams to ensure design aligns with programme and commercial requirements.
* Support the preparation of technical documentation, schedules, and project reports.
About You
* Experience as a Design Coordinator, Assistant Design Manager, Technician, or similar role within construction, steelwork, engineering, or structural environments.
* Strong understanding of technical drawings, detailing, and design processes.
* Excellent communication and coordination skills; confident working with designers, engineers, and site teams.
* Highly organised and proactive with good attention to detail.
* Proficient with MS Office; familiarity with CAD, BIM platforms, or document management systems is advantageous.
What’s On Offer
* Competitive salary of £40,000–£50,000, based on experience.
* Opportunity to join a respected specialist contractor working on complex structural projects.
* Supportive working environment with opportunities for progression into Design Management.
