As a Highway Authority, Worcestershire County Council (WCC) has responsibility for co-ordinating all works and event activity on the highway network of Worcestershire.
Works and event promoters are required to apply for permits and licences for their future works/ events. WCC carries out duties under the New Roads & Street Works Act (NRSWA) / Traffic Management Act (TMA) 2004 taking action to ensure compliance by all works/event promoters.
Our Events & Open Highways team are looking for a dynamic individual that is a good team player with good communication skills to fill the role. The Temporary Traffic Management Works Engineer will ensure roadworks meet safety and legal standards while keeping the public informed about disruptions and progress.
The TTM Works Engineer will carry out vital inspections of both developer led and WCC highway improvement schemes as well as big events. All work activity on the highway needs to comply with the Safety of Street Works and Road Works (commonly known as the red book) and are inspected accordingly against this.
The successful applicant will also be required to work out of hours on an adhoc basis to help manage the more disruptive schemes/ events and provide live updates to the public.
The TTM Works Engineer will also assess both simple and complicated Traffic Management proposals in advance of works and suggest solutions to reduce the impact in line with regulations and conditions from NRSWA and TMA.
The TTM Works Engineer will deputise for the Events & Open Highways Manager on relevant occasions.
