Rotational Occupational Therapist

You are invited to apply to join the integrated Therapy service providing Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention and discharge planning to a wider range of patients. This is a Band 5 rotational Occupational Therapy post, with rotations of 6 months duration across the service.
You will have the opportunity to experience rotations within the areas of Stroke, Complex Care (Critical Care and Neuro‑rehabilitation), Frailty, Medicine, Surgery, Trauma, Elective Orthopaedics and Community (with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust).
Your caseload will have special emphasis on patients with acute illness or injuries, requiring assessment and treatment skills and the ability to discharge the patients home or onto the most appropriate service; this includes working within tight time frames for patient discharges.
You will be supported to develop the necessary skills to take a proactive role within the integrated therapy teams within your base hospital, alongside the ability to provide advice or cover on other Trust sites as required. You will liaise with senior Therapists to ensure the smooth and effective running of the integrated Therapy service. You will receive professional supervision from a Band 6 or Band 7 Therapist, alongside an OT specific development structure.
Mainduties of the job
- To hold and manage an active caseload within your current rotation at Worcestershire Royal Hospital or Alexandra Hospital or Community Trust base.
- To liaise and provide accurate feedback to Senior therapy staff, supporting the allocation of the caseload, to ensure appropriate skill mix when completing timely assessment and discharge.
- To liaise with and provide advice/assistance to Therapy Support Workers and Therapy Assistant Practitioners, and students as appropriate.
- To contribute to effective team working within your rotational area and the wider MDT.
You will be working with, and supported by, a very skilled work force and expected to work within a multi professional environment.
The Band 5 rotation is being actively developed as part of the new integrated therapy service. There will be regular group CPD sessions, One‑ones, opportunities for observed practice sessions, all of which are designed to enhance your personal and clinical development.
There may be the opportunity as part of the wider Therapies integration project to rotate into Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust.
The job role includes working bank holidays, and 7‑day working as part of a roster system as required.

Acute and General/Speciality Medicine ServicesYou will develop skills in acute illness management; manual handling assessment and interventions; development of knowledge and experience around equipment provision; end of life and palliative care discharge planning.
