HR Advisor
Location : Site-based
Hours : 37.5 hours, full-time
About the Role
We’re looking for a confident, pragmatic HR Advisor to join a manufacturing and engineering business in a standalone HR role. This is a hands‑on position where you’ll take full ownership of HR across the business, working closely with senior leadership and acting as a trusted people advisor.
You’ll be comfortable operating independently, able to challenge constructively, and confident managing complex employee relations - while remaining friendly, approachable, and professional.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the main HR point of contact for employees and managers
- Provide clear, legally sound advice on disciplinaries, grievances, absence, performance, and capability
- Lead ER cases end-to-end, including investigations and hearings
- Manage long-term absence and return-to-work processes
- Own the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, probation, performance reviews, and leavers
- Develop and maintain HR policies in line with UK employment law
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure GDPR compliance
- Support both shop-floor and office-based teams in a manufacturing environment
- Advise on shift patterns, overtime, flexible working, and workforce planning
- Support health & safety initiatives and HR compliance
- Partner with senior leadership on people strategy, change, and continuous improvement
- Proven experience as a standalone HR Advisor or HR Generalist
- Background in manufacturing, engineering, or an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law
- Confident handling complex employee relations independently
- Comfortable reporting into senior leadership and challenging when needed
- Professional, resilient, and commercially minded
- CIPD Level 5
- Experience supporting a blue‑collar / shop‑floor workforce
- Experience in a growing or evolving business
