Mechanical Technician – St. John’s (Exxon Mobil)

Exxon Mobil is recruiting a Mechanical Technician to work on the Hebron offshore platform. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will assist with safe and efficient operations, participate in safety programs, and support integrity management initiatives. This role is a mid‑senior level, full‑time engineering position in the Oil and Gas industry.

• Work with equipment such as gas turbines, HVAC systems, multi‑stage centrifugal pumps and compressors, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and cranes.
• Apply and adhere to industry and regulatory codes applicable to the mechanical field in an offshore environment.
• Participate in Hebron platform safety programs.
• Interact with operations, maintenance, and onshore/offshore groups to address key technical areas and platform priorities.
• Identify improvement opportunities and provide technical solutions.
• Support the implementation, application, and continuous improvement of integrity management programs.
• Become a member of Emergency Response teams.

• Journeyperson inter‑provincial trade certificate in Heavy Duty Mechanics, Millwright, or a technologist qualification with equivalent experience.
• 5‑10 years of related experience in the oil/petrochemical industry (preferably offshore).
• Broad working knowledge of process and drilling mechanical equipment and machinery.

• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP).
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of safety practices common to the industry.
