Butternut Box is looking for an experienced and driven Export Lead to join our high‑performing Supply Chain team. You will report to the Supply Chain Manager and work cross‑functionally across the whole operation.
In this role, you won’t just be moving stock; you will be designing the strategy for how we move it. You will lead a team of Export Specialists, ensuring they have the guidance and tools to take full ownership of their regions. This role is critical in standardising operations across sites, managing complex customs landscapes, and ensuring our dogs across Europe never miss a meal.
As we are a growing business, this will be a dynamic role that will flex across our operations, giving you the unique opportunity to have a full view of our supply chain.
You will champion compliance, drive cost efficiencies, and lead cross‑functional projects that span our entire operation. Some travel might be required on an ad‑hoc basis to the fulfilment centre in your region, Box Office or events.
Key responsibilities- Oversee the end‑to‑end export process (UK to EU/International/Intra Europe), ensuring total compliance
- Design and implement robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the team to ensure 100% accuracy in paperwork and veterinary checks
- Conduct and monitor SAP transactions performed by the team to ensure an accurate systematic picture of stock
- Work with Supply Chain Specialists & Buyers to ensure their suppliers comply with Butternut Box’s delivery standards
- Conduct analysis for international markets, identifying opportunities to consolidate loads or optimise routes to reduce freight spend
- Own the high level KPIs for the department and report these to the Senior Leadership Team
- Work cross‑functionally with planning and Production to align long‑term manufacturing capacity with international demand forecasts
- Lead, mentor and develop the Export Specialist team, driving a culture of ownership, high performance and continuous improvement
- Act as the escalation point for complex supply chain issues
- Develop and maintain the overall export strategy

Experience:
Proven experience managing or mentoring a team within Logistics, Supply Chain or Export function - Export Expertise:
Knowledge of international trade and customs procedures - Systems Knowledge:
Advanced experience with SAP (or similar ERPs) and a strong knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets. You are comfortable using data to drive decision‑making. - Operational Background:
You have experience in a warehouse, fulfilment or production environment and understand the physical reality behind the data. - Problem Solver:
You are resilient under pressure and can make quick, calculated decisions when supply chain disruptions occur. - Communicator:
You can translate export terminology into clear instructions for internal stakeholders and external partners.
