Warehouse First Line Manager

About the Role

Are you an experienced people leader who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment? You’ll lead a team of Warehouse Operatives during your shift, ensuring safety, service, cost and people management targets are achieved across a busy retail operation.

This is a full‑time, permanent position. Working Sunday to Thursday, your hours will rotate weekly between 06:00 – 14:00 and 14:00 – 22:00.

Pay, Benefits and More

You’ll be paid a salary of £33,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending upon experience. Additional benefits include 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), the option to buy extra days, a company‑sponsored pension plan, death in service benefit, personal accident insurance, high‑street discounts, a cycle‑to‑work scheme and a strong focus on internal promotion.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead a team of Warehouse Operatives to achieve departmental KPIs, deliver daily team briefings and handovers.
  • Monitor performance and provide constructive feedback and coaching, supporting cross‑training and maintaining a robust skills matrix.
  • Enforce Health & Safety standards and safe working practices.
  • Control and monitor MHE usage and equipment condition.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role, supervising a team, and an operational understanding of a fast‑paced transport environment.
  • Strong leadership and people‑management skills, excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace.
  • Basic PC literacy and experience with Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Ability to work flexibly across rotating shifts.
