- Preparing and reviewing designs through calculations and models for schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
- Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of client and industry standards.
- Appropriately challenging client specifications and presenting and defending solutions to complex problems.
- Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
- Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams.
- Managing interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and production of documentation.
- Actively seeking input from other engineers, specialists, client and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Working closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
- Supervising and mentoring graduates and engineers, assisting them to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Positively engaging with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
- Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within the existing systems.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Chartered member of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with water, wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering high quality output in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Methodical approach to problem solving.
- A proactive and pragmatic approach.
- Proficient in delivering results within short time frames, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
