Responsibilities
  • Delivery of prioritised planned or unplanned activities promptly to support operational requirements whilst ensuring people, bird and food safety is maintained, and take appropriate action to resolve and/or elevate where necessary.
  • Clearly understand internal and external customer requirements to facilitate effective deployment of yourself to meet those needs within the agreed timescales.
  • Care for ALL site buildings and facilities through the effective use and interaction with the CMMS (computerised maintenance management system), stores and administration functions to deliver planned and unplanned maintenance promptly.
  • To develop and use problem-solving and work task techniques to prevent repeat damage and GMP area abnormalities.
  • To lead by example in your engineering position, working safely whilst adhering to and promoting all company policies.
  • Working in line with our culture of continuous improvement - report any shortcomings in systems of work or procedures to the engineering manager, including any improvements & solutions.
  • To liaise with all departments to ensure effective GMP standards whilst promoting teamwork.
  • Interpreting handover reports to identify site services or infrastructure continuous improvements.
  • Support the engineering planner to analyse site utility performance data for areas of reduction.
  • Ensure any planned PPM work is arranged outside of production hours unless, upon agreement with engineering and/or operations management that it won’t impact site performance.
  • Ensure all non-productive assets are captured and maintained on Maintenance Connect via internal or external resources.
Quality and Food Hygiene
  • Complying with company hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring Food Safety is incorporated into any activities or decisions relating to the role.
  • Ensure quality, hygiene and production standards are maintained within the department and wider factory where necessary.
  • Ensure the use of protective clothing and equipment provided is always used correctly by yourself and within the department.
  • Ensuring engineering systems are up to date, available and ready for any internal or external audit.
  • Provide correct asset care scheduling to achieve high standards of GMP.
  • Identify opportunities for increased hygiene requirements or resources needed.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Broad engineering background with experience of manufacturing or food production supported by a good level of electrical and mechanical technical skillset and relevant qualifications, e.g NVQ

  • Experience in facility maintenance activities and controlling safe working practices, including statutory compliance needs.
  • Knowledge of PPMs and proficient use of CMMS software and related transferable skills.

    - Knowledge of various site services, including HVAC, electrical and mechanical services.
