OverviewMott Mac Donald Bentley (MMB) is a fully integrated design and build business that combines the design expertise of Mott Mac Donald and the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver award‑winning projects. Working for MMB you will develop major water and wastewater schemes through all project phases from feasibility to construction, contributing to projects that improve the environment and communities.
We have secured a new eight‑year framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, tackling projects across the DCC region including clean and wastewater treatment sites, below‑ground assets, reservoirs and nature‑based solutions. Our presence in Wales now employs over 270 colleagues across all roles.
Responsibilities- Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes, ensuring they meet current legislation and standards.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, and evaluating supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
- Applying and contributing to design standards, including client and industry requirements.
- Challenging client specifications and presenting and defending solutions to complex problems.
- Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development of standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
- Acting as technical checker on project documents and conducting technical reviews for projects across teams.
- Managing interfaces and integration of design with other disciplines and producing documentation.
- Seeking input from other engineers, specialists, clients and project team members to improve solutions.
- Collaborating with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design, construction and beyond.
- Supervising and mentoring graduates and engineers to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Engaging positively with clients, managing relationships and supporting a one‑team approach to their aims.
- Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within existing systems.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Working towards Chartered/Incoporated membership of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with water, wastewater, non‑infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
- Track record of delivering high‑quality outputs that meet design, quality and safety standards.
- Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Methodical problem‑solving approach.
- Proactive and pragmatic attitude.
- Proficient at delivering results within short time frames, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
