Flying Start Health Visitor Vacancy 37.5 hours – Wrexham area Band
6. Fixed term for up to 9 months.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Health Visitor to work within our Flying Start multi‑agency team. Managing a caseload within a defined population, with the overarching aims of increasing family resilience, improving population health outcomes, and reducing health inequalities while safeguarding the wellbeing of children.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Health Visitor to join our Flying Start Health Visiting Service in the Wrexham area, North Wales. We are looking for a self‑motivated team player who has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
To work with a multi‑agency Flying Start team to achieve the Welsh Assembly Government initiative scheme, targeting communities in need to provide enhanced local services within a multi‑agency setting.
Responsibilities- Manage a defined caseload in addition to facilitating group and community work that aims to address health inequalities in partnership with the wider multi‑skilled team.
- Undertake assessment of needs, planning, implementing and evaluating the programme of care offered to families and individuals.
- Contribute to the public health role in line with government public health initiatives.
- Degree or equivalent in Health Visiting (or current SCPhN Health Visiting course).
- Current NMC registration and nurse prescribing qualification.
- Experience preferred but newly qualified may apply.
The Health Board offers an induction course and ongoing clinical supervision and support from its Safeguarding Children Team and opportunities for in‑house training.

Person Specification Education and Training– Essential Criteria
- SCPhN Health Visitor Postgraduate diploma or certificate.
- Live current NMC registration.
- SCPhN degree.
- Mentorship.
- Clinical supervisor.
- Nurse prescribing.

- In-depth understanding of public health agenda & priorities.
- Ability to apply and enact local strategy.
- Understanding of clinical governance agenda.
- All Wales Child Protection Procedures (2008) and practice.
- In‑depth knowledge of Health Visiting practice and strategic drivers.
- Healthy Child Wales Programme (2015).
- Level 3 safeguarding.
