About the role

We are looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and skilled musculoskeletal physiotherapist to our CMATS Team in the East area of BCUHB.

Key responsibilities

The CMATS service delivers triage and clinical assessment of individuals with musculoskeletal symptoms and orthopaedic conditions within the East Area of North Wales. Our aim is to offer excellent assessment and treatment of people with musculoskeletal problems in a timely manner, ensuring an appropriate onward management plan through shared decision‑making.

The position includes time working within our outpatient musculoskeletal Physiotherapy departments and also offers an opportunity to work in Orthopaedic clinics alongside Orthopaedic consultants and their teams. It involves taking a clinical lead role in the triage, assessment and treatment of patients, where the caseload primarily comprises patients with highly complex presentations. This will be through highly specialist/extended‑scope clinical knowledge and application, audit, research and education, requiring liaison with a diverse number of multidisciplinary specialities and integrated working with other disciplines and agencies.

As an autonomous, highly specialist physiotherapist you will work with the Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist to develop and deliver a high‑quality clinical service throughout BCUHB. You will lead by example; provide a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment of patients in a variety of locations, using evidence‑based principles, current best practice and advanced clinical skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

You will develop competencies for frontline clinical staff within the section to assess, clinically reason and effectively treat routine cases and identify those with complex needs where support may be required, supporting staff to identify potential serious pathology in patients referred for physiotherapy.

Providing an ongoing rolling training programme and support package to develop appropriate knowledge and skills in the workforce within the specialism and rotational staff base.

Qualifications and skills

We are looking for a person with excellent communication skills, a broad background in assessing and treating musculoskeletal conditions, and additional extended‑scope competencies would be beneficial.
