Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visiting

Join to apply for the Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visiting role at Sirona care & health
.

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for NMC registered nurses or midwives to work within the Health Visiting Service as part of our skill mix team. The role supports the delivery of integrated, evidence‑informed services for children, young people and their families, with a focus on prevention, promotion, and early intervention.

This is a primarily developmental role and we provide further opportunities for your professional development within the team, including the chance to apply for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN) Health Visiting programme at UWE.

Applications are welcome from experienced and newly qualified nurses, midwives or students nearing the end of their training.

Whilst posts are available across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, successful candidates will be required to be flexible to work within and across a defined locality.

Responsibilities
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers to understand the developmental needs of their child, including the importance of the home learning environment and early brain development, ensuring all children are ready to learn at transition to school.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathy, cultural sensitivity, resilience, and adaptability when working in diverse community settings; empower families and advocate for those who face barriers to accessing services.
  • Support the implementation of the Healthy Child Programme, and specific public health programmes including Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home‑visiting (MECSH) and UNICEF BFI.
  • Work effectively with multi‑agency partners, including early years settings and community organisations, to promote health and wellbeing, improving early identification of needs and risks to child outcomes.
  • Use group facilitation skills at Baby Hubs and lead structured, evidence‑informed groups in community venues such as Family Hubs which support parental confidence and self‑compassion.
  • Actively participate in supporting students of all levels through the provision of placement support, supervision, assessment, and development opportunities.
Benefits
  • Agenda for Change Salary, full NHS benefits, 27+ days’ annual leave, and participation in the NHS Pension Scheme.

We welcome and encourage all applicants. We are committed to having a workforce that reflects the communities we support and are proactively seeking to improve the diversity of our workforce. We believe diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where all belong.
