Our Aerospace Electrical Technical Support Apprenticeship is suited for those interested in the theoretical side of engineering – planning, scheduling, design, development and test of electrical engineering components in a helicopter context. Students experience a number of placements across the Engineering department, with the ultimate aim of moving into a final placement area based on business requirements and the skills displayed during the apprenticeship.

• Electrical Design – learn and carry out 3D design of electrical cabling/looming to meet aircraft airframe specifications.
• Electro‑magnetic Environmental Effects – gain an understanding and participate in clearing aircraft from an electro‑magnetic capability perspective.
• Manufacturing Engineering – work closely with the aircraft production line, producing electrical work instructions for the manufacture of aircraft on the build lines.
• Electrical Manufacturing Centre – involved in planning loom manufacture, designing form boards, manufacturing looms and continuity testing.
• Avionics – run test schedules for testing of aircraft line‑replaceable units (LRUs), electrical systems and software on specific test beds.

• Grow your knowledge of an engineering business.
• Develop practical skills in engineering and understand key processes and technologies.
• Support early‑careers activities – work as a STEM ambassador in schools, colleges and universities.

Starting Salary £17,850

• 5 GCSEs at a minimum of a C/4, including GCSE Maths at a minimum of a B/5. These grades are non‑negotiable.

This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional personnel security controls (National Security Vetting – NSV) may apply, including eligibility for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
