Drawing Office Manager | Structural Steel & Fabrication
Location: Yeovil, UK
Industry: Structural Steel, Fabrication & Construction
Compensation: £40,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

This is a key leadership role where you'll guide the drawing office team, drive technical excellence, and play a central part in delivering successful steelwork projects from design through to site.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of steelwork detailers (internal & external)
- Oversee all drawing office activities from initial design to issued-for-construction
- Review and approve fabrication, GA, assembly, and erection drawings
- Ensure drawings meet industry standards (including NSSS) and internal QC processes
- Allocate workloads and manage project deadlines effectively
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, production, and site teams
- Resolve technical queries and design challenges throughout each project
- Attend project meetings and occasional site visits
- Oversee Tekla Structures usage and maintain document management systems
- HNC or higher in Structural/Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the UK structural steelwork sector
- Strong proficiency with Tekla Structures
- Solid knowledge of NSSS and general steelwork standards
- Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and drive team performance
- Competitive salary £40k-£60k based on experience
