Position: Technical Author - Inorganic chemicals BAT - 32437

Technical Author - Inorganic chemicals - UK BAT - 32437

Environment Agency – Join the UK BAT team to help draft Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions and reduce emissions across the Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) industry. You will collaborate with Technical Working Groups and present final documents suitable for publication as a UK-wide environmental standard.

Responsibilities
  • Draft BAT conclusions and other technical documents.
  • Liaise with Technical Working Groups and industry stakeholders.
  • Analyse technical data and arguments, identify gaps and propose solutions.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams and manage timelines to deliver high‑quality outputs.
  • Plan, prioritise and organise tasks to meet deadlines and achieve target outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement of the BAT development process.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in the LVIC industry.
  • Specialist knowledge of LVIC processes and UK/EU environmental legislation (IED, Environmental Permitting Regulations, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to critically evaluate technical arguments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience preparing and presenting technical reports.
  • Project management experience and a documented track record of delivering projects on time.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Other Information
  • Contract length: up to 2 years from appointment.
  • Full‑time working pattern, with flexibility for job share and flexible working arrangements.
  • Travel may be required, including overnight stays.
  • Applications will be blind‑assessed and interviews conducted via MS Teams.
  • A reserve list will be maintained for 6 months.
