Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Zürich

The role

You will operate at the intersection of cloud networking, platform engineering, and security
.

Your mission is to build a robust, scalable, and automated network foundation across AWS and hybrid environments, enabling teams to deploy services safely, predictably, and at scale.

This is not a ticket-based networking role.

You will design systems, define standards, automate aggressively, and collaborate closely with Security, Dev Sec Ops , AI, and Platform Engineering teams.

What you’ll do

Cloud & hybrid network architecture

  • Design, implement, and operate AWS and hybrid network architectures
, including VPCs, subnets, routing, gateways, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Build secure and scalable VPC topologies
, transit networks, VPNs, and private connectivity (Direct Connect, Express Route).
  • Design for high availability, fault isolation, and predictable failure behavior
    .

Network as Code & automation

  • Define and maintain Network-as-Code using Terraform (and/or Cloud Formation), including reusable modules and standards.
  • Automate network provisioning, configuration, auditing, and scaling using Python, Bash, or Go
    .
  • Eliminate manual configuration wherever possible.

Zero Trust & network security

  • Implement Zero Trust networking
    , micro-segmentation, and identity-aware access patterns.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure network-level controls align with platform security architecture.
  • Support firewalling, traffic filtering, and secure ingress/egress patterns.

Observability & reliability

  • Build network observability into the platform using tools such as Cloud Watch, Datadog, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, or equivalent.
  • Monitor latency, packet loss, throughput, and failure patterns, not just uptime.
  • Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for network performance, availability, and security issues.
  • Evaluate and implement next-generation networking technologies
, such as service mesh, SD-WAN, and modern network automation frameworks.
  • Support networking needs for AI workloads
, APIs, and data-intensive services (secure endpoints, internal traffic flows, model access).
  • Act as a technical reference for networking topics across engineering teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of automation, clarity, and continuous improvement
    .
How we work at Rebell
  • We prefer automation over manual processes
    .
  • We prefer clear rules and good systems to meetings and approvals.
  • We believe in “better forgiveness than permission”, as long as decisions are well-reasoned.
  • We only perform tasks that no-one else can do
. If we can outsource a task that can be done by others in the same way we would, we do.
  • We want an ultimately lean organization
. We believe that large teams create complexity hinder innovation and adaptation.
  • We simplify things as much as we can and automate whatever we can
. We want to go hardcore on deletion and simplification.
  • We hire for attitude
; skills you can learn from the team.
  • We value contribution
    , not seniority.

We’re an international team (10+ nationalities). English is the working language.

We care more about how you think than how loud you are.

About you
  • 10+ years of experience in Networking, Cloud Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering.
  • Deep expertise in AWS networking services (VPC, Route 53, Transit Gateway, WAF, Cloud Front, ALB/NLB).
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Cloud Formation, or equivalent).
  • Advanced understanding of network protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, VPN, HTTP/S).
  • Hands-on experience with network automation (Python scripting, Ansible, AWS SDK, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of network security principles
, Zero Trust, and identity-aware networking.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation workloads and their networking requirements is a plus.
  • Comfortable working across Dev Ops, Sec Ops, Platform, and Data Engineering teams.
  • Certifications are a plus (AWS Advanced Networking – Specialty, CCNP/CCIE, Dev Net), but real-world systems you’ve built matter more
    .

We’re not looking for someone to keep networks running as they are.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys designing network systems that scale, fail gracefully, and are hard to misuse.
