Turkish / English / French School in Istanbul

Kilittaşı Schools - Bilingual Turkish / English Education:
Kilittaşı Schools offers Preschool, Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School bilingual programs for children of dual citizenship (Turkish and other) whose families either live in Turkey or are moving back to Istanbul. Benefiting from a Dual Program, Turkish students who hold two nationalities have the advantage of studying half day Turkish curriculum and half day Canadian curriculum. Kilittaşı Schools (KIT), with 2 locations situated on Istanbul's Asia Side in the east of the city, was established under the management of Keystone International Schools (which itself provides international education programs in English specifically for children of expat backgrounds).

- in Kucuk Camlica (central Uskudar district)

Preschool, Kindergarten:
- in Dragos district.

Dual Curriculum Program: 
Kilittaşı Schools implement the Canadian Curriculum for all the English Language Arts, French as a second language and all of the branch lessons. The Turkish Ministry of National Education’s (MNE) curriculum is implemented for the other subject areas.

The curriculum offers clear target outcomes and skill achievements at each grade level. Both programs ensure that the students acquire the necessary learning outcomes and skills at their appropriate grade levels.

The purpose of primary school education is to encourage and support students by creating awareness about different areas of arts and literature.
During secondary school education, students are encouraged to develop their autonomy. Both curriculums and our school’s approach support our student’s growth throughout their secondary education.

Students are provided with a comfortable environment to discuss various age-appropriate topics in order to form independent opinions. They are encouraged to make autonomous decisions and take on responsibilities.


• Preschool / Kindergarten Program:

Kilittaşı Schools Preschool was created in order to expose children to a different language from a young age. Through language immersion, Kilittaşı Schools preschoolers learn French quickly by using it in every aspect of the day. Preschool children learn through songs, activities and play. 


• Elementary School - Grades 1-4:
In the primary grades, the Kilittaşı Schools curriculum follows Turkish Ministry of National Education’s (MNE) guidelines - teaching educational basics, as well as building strong foundations in arithmetics, reading, and writing. Using a variety of resources and approaches, the Elementary School curriculum also includes art, music, environmental studies, French language and physical education (PE).

French is taught by native-speaking teachers as a second language, and in accordance with grade levels. Each child has the opportunity to learn French not only in the classroom but also to take part in French celebrations and holidays with exciting group projects and presentations.

On completing an English level assessment test, and based on your child's level of English, summer school participation may be required. Whenever additional academic English support is needed throughout the year, students will take resource classes by native English teachers.


• Intermediate / Middle School - Grades 5-8:
In intermediate school grades, the program follows Turkish Ministry of National Education (MNE) guidelines.

In addition to the core subjects of arithmetic, reading, and writing, the curriculum also includes science, French language, art, music, social studies, and physical education. Intermediate school undertakes the purpose of bridging the gap between primary and high school. Opportunities for responsibility and to show leadership are encouraged.

French is taught as a second language, and in accordance with grade levels. Each child has the opportunity to learn French not only in the classroom but also to take part in French celebrations and holidays with exciting group projects and presentations.
