Established in 1995, the International Language Institute (ILI) is an English language school conveniently situated in Gaithersburg, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC. We provide a range of quality English as a Second Language (ESL) courses to students from around the world. Our English courses are available during the day, in the evening, and on Saturdays. We teach students of all levels - from total beginner to advanced. We are authorized under Federal law to enroll individuals with a student visa as well as other non-immigrant foreign students. For local students, we provide Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, and more.

Accreditation:
Our English programs are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). ACCET is a national accrediting agency listed by the United States Secretary of Education.

English Language Courses:

• Intensive English Program (IEP) - 16 weeks:
Covering all of the basic language skill areas: listening, speaking, grammar, reading, and writing. In addition, we include vocabulary development, conversation, American culture, American idioms, pronunciation, and TOEFL Preparation for advanced levels.

• TOEFL Preparation course:  Available with intensive (20 hours per week) and semi-intensive (10 hours per week) study options, this comprehensive course includes skill-building exercises and practice tests to help learners succeed on the TOEFL exam. The length of the class is 12 weeks, but students may enroll for 4, 8 or 12 weeks. 

• Homestay Program:  Live with an American family during your stay in the U.S. and immerse yourself in the English language! Available to F-1 students in the Intensive Program, homestay accommodation includes a private room, breakfast 7 days per week, and dinner 5 days per week.

• Private Lessons (can take place at your home, workplace or at our school)

• Special Group Class (3 or more students on the same level who are instructed together) 
• Corporate English Training (Accent Reduction Courses; Idiom Courses; Vocabulary Development; Grammar and Practice; Business Writing and Composition; Readings in American Culture and Conversation)
