Learn Spanish in Spain with Instituto Hemingway! Established in 1986, Instituto Hemingway (accredited by the Cervantes Institute) is a middle-sized private school with about 90 students year-round. Our school is conveniently situated in the city center of Bilbao in the Basque Country in Northern Spain, 246 miles north of Madrid and 380 miles north-west of Barcelona.

We are not only a "Spanish School", we are an "Institute for Languages and Cross-Cultural Training". We offer General Spanish courses that take place in the morning for students of all levels - from total beginner to advanced. In addition, we offer afternoon Spanish classes and intensive Spanish courses.

General Spanish Courses:
No matter how long you have been learning Spanish, we will help you to acquire this international language quickly and easily. Our experienced Spanish teachers are here to answer all your questions, queries and concerns.

The Spanish classes are taught Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 1.30 in two sessions differentiated by their content and skills that they teach and are separated by a 30 minute break.

The first session focuses on the study of grammar and practicing reading and writing skills. The second session concentrates on speaking and listening skills.

Our General Spanish courses assure quick and balanced progress and include:
- 20 hours per week (4 hours per day), Monday to Friday
- Courses start every Monday throughout the year (Minimum 1 week stay)
- Average class size = 5 & maximum number of students per class = 10
- Cultural activities are also included

Afternoon Spanish Classes:  
We also offer afternoon Spanish courses that are aimed at people who live in Bilbao, and want to work on their level of Spanish during the afternoons.

Intensive Spanish Courses:  
Intensive course students attend morning classes, but want to add to their learning by attending during the afternoons as well for a total of 23-26 hours.
