Owned by Travelport, Galileo is a highly-popular Computer Reservations System (CRS) used by airlines and travel agents worldwide. Known as Apollo in North America and Japan, it is used to store and retrieve information, and conduct all transactions related to travel, such as airline reservations, car rental, and booking of train travel, cruises, and hotel rooms.

Galileo was formed in 1987 by nine European carriers - KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, British Airways, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Swissair, Olympic, Air Portugal, Sabena and Aer Lingus. A CRS may also be known as a Global Distribution System (GDS) if they book and sell tickets for multiple airlines.

Knowledge of the Galileo or Apollo CRS system definitely gives students in the travel and tourism field a distinct advantage over other applicants. Galileo is a member of IATA (International Air Transport Association), OTA (OpenTravel Alliance) and SITA (Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques).

There are many ICB courses which range from beginners through to expert levels.
