Join us for our Extended Essay Writing Course in London, UK in summer 2024 at the International Summer School for Teens. The purpose of this class is to support high schooler students who want to prepare for their IB extended essay during the summer. ISSFT offers an exciting and exclusive 3-week pre-university experience though our residential English summer school for international students (ages 15 to 18 years old) in July 2024 on the inspiring Imperial College campus in London. Students choose 1 Academic course (Extended Essay Writing) + 1 Elective course, and stay/board at our university campus location.

3-week Residential Summer School in London, UK:

• Boys & Girls ages 15-18 years old / British & international students.
• Students choose 1 Academic course (Extended Essay Writing, 39 Hours) + 1 Elective course.

Students develop their understanding of research methodologies, how to work to a timetable and the strategies required to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of their topic. Students spend time understanding how to structure their essay. This includes developing a suitable title, research skills, critical analysis, thoughtful discussion and evaluation, and how to write their essay effectively.

Extended Essay Writing Course features:

Working in small groups, classes cover
• Practical writing skills: comparing, contrasting, defining, elaborating, describing, and learning how to structure and write an essay in an academic context.
• Reading with purpose and developing related critical thinking skills.
• Understanding the expectations and assessment criteria for the IB Extended Essay.
• Sourcing material: How to use the library, plagiarism, referencing and academic integrity.
• Learn how to create an outline.
• Break down the assignment.
• Research and referencing.
• Creating a sound first draft.
• Self-reflection.

Goals & Learning Outcomes of this course:
• Creating a first draft.
• Improve self-confidence.
• Develop critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Time management and academic integrity.

ELECTIVES: Sport / Creative Courses (39 Hours):
Students choose 1 of the following electives: Golf, Tennis, Rowing, Photography or Theatre (Drama / Acting techniques).
