Casual Administrative Assistant – Abbotsford School District

Position SummaryJoin the Abbotsford School District’s administrative on-call pool. Assignments can vary from one day to several weeks covering for short-term leaves, special projects or during tight deadlines. This opportunity will provide valuable administrative experience across schools and various departments and allow the flexibility to apply your skills in a diverse environment. The District seeks self-starters who can manage multiple priorities in a professional, efficient, and timely manner in a rewarding and fulfilling environment that promotes teamwork and inclusiveness.

Skills And Abilities
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. Completion of a six-month certificate in Administration, Applied Business Technology, or another related field and/or one year of recent relevant work experience. Intermediate user in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word. Access to reliable transportation (bus, car, etc.).
Additional Requirements- Completion of Microsoft Office training and experience using internet and internet-based programs, with the ability to learn other software programs.
- Proven ability to determine, judge and select appropriate courses of action in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Understanding and awareness of cultural diversity.
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, self-motivate, and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to provide service and relationship to the public and School District in a professional, respectful, positive and courteous manner.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain positive, effective work relationships in a team environment at all times.
- Proven ability to use tact and discretion and maintain confidentiality in matters pertaining to the School District.
- Working knowledge of WHMIS and Work Safe BC occupational health and safety regulations and the ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and resilient to change.
- Ability to explain complex or simple instructions or information clearly to others.
- Working knowledge of Finance and Purchasing Programs, MS Office, Internet and Internet-based programs.
- Proven ability to provide highly accurate data entry with attention to detail.
Please Note: The recruitment process includes assessment of administrative skills. Successful candidates will be required to attend an administrative training program within the school district. Upon successful completion of training and subject to meeting all other hiring requirements, successful candidates will be placed on-call for work assignments.
